This one-day course helps train and prepare those who will be supporting the Designated Mental Health Lead. Suitable for non-teaching, admin, support staff, or teachers.
The Assistant Mental Health Lead is a role that supports a Designated Mental Health Lead in schools or colleges. The role of the Mental Health Lead is wide and covers both mental health and wellbeing, so provision for 100% of pupils, not only those experiencing difficulties, in addition to considering the support available for staff (to help ensure that they are in the right place for them to be able to support the wellbeing of staff.
Course Information
This course is designed to provide an overview of the types of activities that an Assistant Mental Health Lead may undertake. Training therefore introduces the coverage of the role and some of the tasks that they may be asked to undertake, such as:
- Monitoring attendance or other data to establish patterns;
- Gathering data on the mental health needs of all pupils or populations within them;
- Monitoring the outcomes of mental health interventions;
- Monitoring the demographics of pupils referred for social, emotional or mental health interventions;
- Compiling data for reporting.

How does self-study work?
Through this website you will be able to view pre-recorded trainer videos. Modules are split into 10-15 minute videos so that you can work through them with a cuppa at your own pace.
You are able to download the digital materials through the website and work through the workbook as you watch the videos and complete the activities set by the trainer.

You are able to contact us at any time by phone or email to discuss content, ask questions. You are also entitled to a complimentary mentoring session to help you overcome any barriers you have with embedding the learning.
