5 Tips to help boost your wellbeing this half term

 

It can be hard finding ways to switch off when you get a break, here’s some things to try to boost your wellbeing.

 

Try something new;

 

Finding ways to learn and be creative will get you thinking and take your mind off stress, work or anything else which may be affecting your mood.

  • Join a class or a group; like yoga, rambling, pilates, painting etc
  • Try online learning; pick something to learn about like languages, art, crafting etc
  • Do something creative; you could try baking, crochet, knitting etc

 

Spend time in nature;

 

It’s been proven that spending time in nature can significantly boost your mood and wellbeing, but it doesn’t mean you have to go outside! Here’s some things to try:

  • Bring nature indoors; sit by a window, have plants inside, listen to nature sounds in the background
  • Spend time with animals; if you don’t own pets you could try dog walking, feeding the birds or visiting local attractions with animals such as farms or zoos.
  • Mindfulness in nature; go for walks, visit scenic areas

 

Take time to relax;

 

Take the time to improve your sleep and the quality of your rest periods – you don’t have to be busy all the time! Here’s some things that will help:

  • Establish routines; try and get yourself into regular rest periods
  • Do relaxing activities; like bathing or meditation
  • Make rest areas comfortable; like lowering lightings, or having soft furnishings

 

Spend time with other people;

 

Connecting with people will give you a boost in confidence and reduce any feelings or isolation or loneliness. You could plan in some days out, visiting friends or family, or simply just going out to public places such as the gym, shop or attractions.

 

Look after your physical wellbeing;

 

Keeping active is important but so is taking regular rest times. If you’re feeling tired and run down take a break, you don’t have to keep busy all the time!
