Tom Grennan encourages mental health discussions

"The singer Tom Grennan was a winner of the BBC's Make a Difference Awards (MAD) which recognises ordinary people who have made a difference to their communities."

“The singer Tom Grennan said he found it easier to talk about mental health issues to his friends than when he was younger.

The 29-year-old Bedford-born singer made the comment during a conversation with a winner of the BBC’s Make a Difference Awards (MAD) which recognises ordinary people who have made a difference to their communities.”

As part of the BBC programme to support the ‘Make a Difference’ Awards our Chair, Richard Daniel Curtis spoke to Andy Collins on the 3 Counties Radio show about speaking candidly around mental health to remove the stigma and help people to feel more comfortable around discussing their own mental health.

“Tom Grennan’s message is so important, it really is and my brain was kind of going two ways there! There was the whole piece about homecoming as well as obviously the messages that he was delivering. When he mentions homecoming and that support network that we rely on in terms of our mental health and so it’s not just about what to do with our mental health it’s also about our support networks. The people we talk to and turn to”
