Professional Membership for Schools.

Join the Association of Mental Health in Education (AMHIE) and gain immediate access to a professional library of evidence-informed resources and training designed to help schools conform with guidance, support wellbeing, and reduce risk — without adding to workload.

AMHIE exists to validate your approach, support professional development, and help your school stay compliant and inspection-ready.

What we offer our members

What AMHIE offers our members: Increased Compliance, Reduced Risk and Stress, Reduced Risk and Stress, Clarity and Direction.

How do we compare to others?

How AMHIE compares to other mental health membership organisations for schools

Why should you choose AMHIE?

  • If you are a Mental Health Lead: Choose AMHIE. We are the only organisation specifically built to help you manage the role of the Lead, focusing on your time management and statutory duties.

  • If you want clinical resources: Anna Freud or Place2Be are excellent for specific therapeutic strategies and research-backed lesson plans.

  • If you are a SENCO: NASEN remains the gold standard for SEND-specific policy and classroom differentiation.

The Bottom Line

AMHIE is essentially your “Compliance Shield.” While other organisations tell you what mental health is, AMHIE tells you what you need to do to stay compliant, how to train your staff for the lowest possible cost, and how to evidence your work to external stakeholders.

What are the key benefits?

Free Membership is designed to save you time and keep you on the right side of Department for Education (DfE) and Ofsted expectations without a financial commitment.

Here are the key benefits:

1. Essential Compliance & Risk Reduction

Because we are a DfE-recommended peer support network, joining helps you demonstrate that your school is actively engaging with the wider sector.

  • Policy Alerts: You get instant updates when DfE or Ofsted change statutory guidance, meaning you don’t have to spend hours checking for news.

  • Inspection Readiness: Membership helps you evidence that you are “staying current,” which is a key check-box during inspections.

2. Time-Saving Resources

Mental Health Leads using AMHIE report saving an average of 5–8 hours per month. As a free member, you get:

  • Monthly Free Resources: Ready-to-use materials and evidence-based tips delivered to your inbox.

  • Member Welcome Pack: Includes an AMHIE member badge and certificate to display at your setting.

  • Monthly Newsletters: Curated summaries of sector news, research, and reports.

3. Financial Discounts

Even though membership is free, it acts as a “discount card” for some of our paid services:

  • 30% Off Training: You receive a 30% discount code for any of their expert-led training courses (including Senior Mental Health Lead training).

  • Reduced Rates: Discounts are often available for their regional and national conferences.

4. Community & Support

You aren’t left to figure out complex cases on your own:

  • Advice Line: Access to a helpline for practical advice when navigating difficult mental health issues.

  • Working Parties: You can join working groups that help steer the national conversation and develop new guidance for the sector.

  • Peer Forum: Connection to a network of over 1,500 other schools to share “what works.”
